Classic Newfoundland mitts

February 20, 2017 Frances Ranger

I've made a bunch of these classic Newfie mittens. They are warm, last very well, and are always enjoyable to knit.

This pair was for my niece. I adjusted the pattern size smaller so they would fit her perfectly.

Pink is her favourite colour. I once knit her an adorable jumper in light purple and green. She said it was very nice. Then, a very short time later she earnestly reminded me her favourite colour is pink.

I have not made that mistake again. No doubt at some point, I'll make her something ridiculously girlish and over-the-top and she'll be offended.

That time is not yet!
